OTTUMWA, Iowa (KTVO) — Ottumwa Regional Health Center's EMS Manager Mark Frymoyer is the center's 2025 Mercy Award winner.
The Mercy Award is given to one employee at each Lifepoint health facility across the U.S. Lifepoint administrators say it's the highest honor an employee can receive.
They said Frymoyer exemplifies what first responders stand for. He said he can't take all of that credit, though.
"I guess I didn't really expect it," Frymoyer said. "I don't really feel like I'm doing anything different than the 100 people I work with every day. We all care for patients and are compassionate about what we do, and that's why we do it."
Frymoyer says it does feel good to know his work is making a difference in peoples' lives. He will be one of the 60 finalists going to Nashville, Tenn., to be considered for the company-wide Mercy Award.
