Ottumwa Regional Health Center Publishes 2025 Community Benefit Report

Report outlines hospital’s continued impact on health and economic vitality of Ottumwa.

Ottumwa, IA- (April 6, 2026) – Ottumwa Regional Health Center today published its community benefit report for the 2025 calendar year. This annual report outlines the various ways the hospital is working to support the health and economic vitality of the City of Ottumwa as part of its mission of making communities healthier®.

“For more than 130  years, Ottumwa Regional Health Center has been proud to call Ottumwa our home, and as a leader in our community, we are committed to providing high-quality care close to home, investing in our region’s overall well-being and making a positive impact on those we serve,” said  Richard Bergmann,  chief executive officer (CEO) of Ottumwa Regional Health Center. “This year’s report underscores our ongoing commitment to providing high quality care – both inside and outside our hospital walls.”

Ottumwa Regional Health Center’s 2025 community benefit report highlights its continued efforts to meet the growing healthcare needs of its community through welcoming new providers, expanding service lines and continually investing in its facilities and healthcare technology. For example, in 2025, Ottumwa Regional Health Center added 49 providers in midwifery and more; and made nearly/more than $3million in capital improvements, including a helipad, dissolved air tank, dietary floor replacement and an intensive outpatient program for substance use disorders.ls.

Additionally, Ottumwa Regional Health Center made a donation of nearly $18.4 million in health services to those in need, demonstrating its continuous commitment to ensuring everyone has access to care, regardless of their ability to pay.

Ottumwa Regional Health Center is also devoted to creating environments where providers want to practice, and employees want to work. In 2025, the hospital distributed $38,895,701 in salaries, wages and benefits for its approximately 375 employees; while contributing $85,268 in professional development and tuition assistance so all its employees can have the opportunity to learn, grow and improve the care they provide their patients.

Last year, the organization paid $8,572,121 in local and state taxes, while also continuing its support of local activities and organizations committed to serving the region, including, Partners in Progress (Ottumwa Rodeo, Lean-In Sponsor, Winter Fest, Golf Classic,), Int’ Film Festival, American Gothic Performing Arts,) Bridge View Center, Be The Light  Suicide Glow Walk, Oktoberfest Parade,  Southern Iowa Senior Expo, YMCA Healthy  Kids Day, Ottumwa High School, Ottumwa Leadership Academy, Ottumwa Symphony, Cardinal High School, Indian Hills Community College and more.
