DAISY and BEE Award Nomination

We are proud to partner with The DAISY Foundation to honor the compassionate care of our extraordinary nurses throughout the year.

DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The Foundation was formed in January 2000, by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). The DAISY Award, presented in collaboration with The American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE), is part of the DAISY Foundation’s program to recognize the super-human efforts nurses do every day all over the country. Nurses receive the DAISY Award for their clinical skills, compassionate care, exemplary service, and continued commitment to excellence.

The BEE Award for BEING EXCELLENT EVERY DAY

The BEE Award

Just like a DAISY would not be able to grow without the help of the BEE, our nurses could not do what they do for our patients without the outstanding teamwork of other health care professionals. That’s why Ottumwa Regional Health Center recognizes support personnel alongside nurses through a similar honor called the BEE Award. Anyone at Ottumwa Regional Health Center who supports patient care — such as Clerks, Transporters, Housekeepers, Nursing Assistants, Imaging Techs, Respiratory Care and others — can be nominated for the BEE Award. Just like the DAISY Award, nominations can be submitted by patients, families, physicians, volunteers and staff. Recipients will be chosen by a committee at Ottumwa Regional Health Center and will be honored with the BEE Award throughout the year.
