At Ottumwa Regional Health Center the Case Management Department combines the knowledge and caring of its nurse case managers and social workers to understand the emotional stress of illness. Our professionals have the skills to help patients and families during their stay. They work in collaboration with physicians, nurses, therapists and others to help the patient and their family deal with health care problems that develop during illness, and help develop discharge plans.
The Case Managers and Social Workers are an important link between patient and families, insurance companies and physicians. Discharge planning begins the day a patient is admitted to the hospital, and this department will assist our patients with needed medical equipment, transportation, crisis intervention, links to area agencies and services and more.
