Ottumwa Regional Health Center recently held a retirement celebration for Cindy Grant, Clinical Coordinator and respiratory therapist. Cindy began her career in 1976 as an LPN and trained on the job for respiratory therapy, taking courses at the local college with instructors from the University of Iowa and Mayo Clinic. One of her most vivid memories was when a building collapsed in downtown Ottumwa in 1980 and treating those who had to be extracted from the rubble. It took a lot of coordination and teamwork that tragic day to help all those affected.
Cindy worked with many wonderful physicians over the decades, including Dr. Kingsbury and Dr. Paul Scott, internists. She is thankful to Lynn Wagner, her “first boss” at ORHC for giving her opportunities. Special thanks were reserved for current program director, Deb McLeland. “She is incredible,” shares Cindy. “My ‘work’ sister, my mentor. She has taught me so much!”
Cindy plans to continue to work occasionally and looks forward to more time with her granddaughter and extended family. Congratulations Cindy!
