Dr. Brannen

Gastroenterologist Dr. Jeffrey Brannen with Ottumwa Health Clinics, participated in several interviews and radio talk shows designed to educate the public and raise awareness on detection and prevention of colon cancer. March is Colon Cancer Awareness month and Dr. Brannen wants to get the message out about a very common, yet very preventable cancer with screening and removal of polyps if caught in the early stages. “1 in 20 people, both men and women, will be diagnosed with colon cancer in their lifetime,” said Dr. Brannen. “This disease can be prevented through regular screening, yet it is the second leading cause of overall cancer deaths in the United States. If you are over 50, or have a family history of colon cancers or polyps, I’m urging people to get screening.” Dr. Brannen specializes in problems with the digestive tract, including esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver and pancreas. March is National Colon Cancer Awareness Month
