cassieOttumwa Regional Health Center recently held a retirement celebration for Cassie Belger, RN. Cassie dedicated her nursing career to ORHC and for 39 years has provided great patient care. She honed her skills on the medical nursing floor starting as an LPN and over the years as an RN has worked in obstetrics, pediatrics, telemetry, palliative care, skilled care and helped open ORHC’s Acute Rehabilitation Unit where she stayed until her retirement.
“I loved working on the Acute Rehab
Unit,” said Cassie, who was known for always wearing a white nurses’ cap. “We help patients who many times can’t do anything when they get here. Then when they are ready to go home, they walk out of the unit by themselves!” When asked if she had a favorite story, Cassie said, “There are so many great stories here and so many wonderful staff, I wouldn’t know where to start!
Cassie’s retirement plans include spending much more time with her husband. Congratulations and happy retirement, Cassie Belger!
